Why a Coated Floor Makes Sense in Michigan

A bare concrete garage floor in southeast Michigan takes a beating: de-icing salt, hot tires, dropped tools, and constant freeze-thaw cycles all chip away at the surface over time. A properly installed coating system seals and protects that concrete, resists stains and chemicals, and makes the space dramatically easier to keep clean. It’s a practical upgrade that pays off in both day-to-day use and long-term resale value.

What Quality Work Looks Like

Not all floor coatings are built the same, and it shows within a year or two. When comparing options, it’s worth asking any contractor about: how the concrete is prepared before coating (proper preparation is what allows a coating to bond instead of peeling), whether commercial-grade materials are used rather than a big-box DIY kit, whether cracks and moisture issues are addressed before coating rather than covered up, and whether you’ll get a written quote and warranty information up front. A coating installed correctly the first time should hold up for years, not months.
